Production WEEK 3

This week we began by shooting the segment of our film which takes place within the sound stage Mike suggested. This was a fairly straight forward shoot, to save David our actor the trouble of coming down for an hour, we decided it would be best to just dress Mikey in the costume as the audience would be unable to tell because of the distance of the shot. We still need to shoot the rest of this scene in the studio, but hopefully it'll sync up well with this shot and be a cool reveal within the film.

Next, we were back in the studio to try and finish off some of our cell stuff. Some of the images here were for possible poster designs. I do really enjoy the image of me and David shown above think it really captures a moment within our relationship as Director and Actor.

Again, the images shown above were for possible poster designs, think the one on the left is the most striking image as it shows not only a man stuck in a cell but one who has been stuck there for some time and fallen into some type of routine.

In terms of what we actually shot today, it was a really fun shoot as we shot the attempted escape scene. Firstly I had to inform the caretakers that there would be smoke on set, they were very accommodating and switched the smoke alarms off in these areas. We had always wanted a red flood light to fill the cell when it became apparent the escape was not going to plan. Glenn said something which I never really thought about, and that was that the more subtle the lighting the harder it is to pull off, so he was never really concerned about the red lighting effect and you can see by the pictures that it looks very cool.

We had Tori sit in the gallery so that when she saw the main lights go off, she had a five second cue to then hit the red flood light. I was pleased with how this scene went on set, it had a very high energy, which I think the scene needed. I cant wait to see what the shots look like on camera. As a crew we have worked very well but today, was the only day there was a few disagreements. Especially with me and Glenn, my aim was never to step on his toes but Glenn can be very meticulous which is great but often takes a long time. I'm always trying to push him so that we can keep on schedule and I just feel today I did a few things which annoyed him. Which I apologised for but as I said its a lot of pressure when you multiple aspects of the production to look over. I'm not only thinking about Glenns camera work and lighting, but I'm thinking about our Actors, the script, the sound and the camera/lighting.
Overall I think this shoot went very well and the production values of the lighting and smoke will really show on screen.
