Final Poster Design

You may have seen this previous poster design in an earlier post that I created for professional practice. Even though I like the look of the poster, I created it on word and it was never going to be my final design. It is also at such a low quality that when printed it would have looked terrible.

So what I did was, send this version of the poster to my brother, who is currently studying graphic design at Newcastle University and he made up a few improved versions of the poster based on my original design. The design below is a product of that:

I really like the new version and you can instantly tell that the text and images are to a much higher quality. One thing that I was keen to play around with was the colours, even though I'm a fan of the monochrome look and what that says about the film, I didn't want people to just think that we had printed the design in Black & White. So I asked Max, my brother to try and add some blue to the image somewhere to make it pop.

This is what he came back with, you can see that not only is the background blue but that he has tried to highlight the 019 on the back of Davids jumpsuit. I appreciate that Max attempted what I had asked but he had express concern about adding colour and that it would mess with the balance of the poster and I tend to agree with him. I prefer the first design in comparison, so I had decided to go with that one as our final poster. Until, he sent me the design below which I think is the perfect blend of what we both wanted.

The blue on black is much more subtle than the blue on white, and the way it emits from the head silhouette it something I'm really into. There is also a very faint brain within the head silhouette which is a really nice touch. Once I was happy with this design we added some more credits to the bottom of the image, as it always looks more impressive the more names that are listed.
Overall, I am really happy with this design and hope its one of the best this year, I really want to see it printed and hope CCAD will be happy to hang it on their walls.
