Casting 'Issac' & 'Hannah'
Since I had been so successful finding our David by using North East Theatre Practitioners, I felt it would be best to use the same Technique. I posted an ad in not just that group but Four Bridges Casting.
Here is the AD:
I was disappointed by the lack of responses, after my luck with the previous post I thought this ad would be just as successful, I was wrong.
However I did get one response for the Character of Issac. A local actor by the name of Gordon Hindson replied stating his interest in the role. His Facebook profile had very few pictures on so I was sceptical at first, I send him over a copy of ur script to look over to see if he would be interested further. I was pleasantly surprised when he sent over this headshot of himself.
Instantly, I felt he had the right look for the part. However with the lack of responses for the Hannah role, I decided it would be best to post the ad again. I had luck with the post first thing on a morning before, so I tried the same tactic. I only got one response again and that was fellow friend of CCAD, Graham Saxon.
Even though I have worked with Graham before and have nothing against the guy, I knew John had cast him in 'Mercy' and I had said from the very beginning of this project I made a conscious effort to cast differently from the other films. I want people at VUE to view my film for what it is, and not be pulled out of it by saying 'Oh there is the killer form Mercy". If he is the killer that is, I also wanted our film to transcend the region, and I'm aware Graham has quite a strong accent.
I told Graham about my philosophy on trying to cast differently and he completely understood, which was nice of him.
After talking to Gordon further about the part, I decided to go with my gut instinct of what I felt after seeing his picture. I believe that if they have the correct look that will do half the work for the audience. So I am pleased to announce Gordon will be playing our Issac.
However, we were still without a Hannah, from the very beginning I had an actress in mind who had worked with Adam on RE inc. A Scottish actress named Eilidh Talman, I was eager to cast an actress with an accent for Hannah as the part was so based on the voice, I wanted it to be an interesting one at that and she had the spicy attitude that the part required from what I had seen on RE inc. So I decided to message her directly, to my surprise she was up for the role. She was however busy during early May when we are hoping to film. I asked about the 1st of May and she said she might be free that day so Hopefully we will still be able to use her, and just focus on shooting her scenes that day!
I really want to try and work around her because I'd love to have her talent involved.
